Our Products from Mexico

Orbia Vestolit is one of the leading producers of chlor-alkali products with a capacity of 300 thousand tons/year.

From our production facilities in Mexico, we sell our products to the United States, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Europe.

Caustic Soda

Caustic soda is a clear, colorless solution of sodium hydroxide in water. The solution is highly alkaline, highly corrosive, and aggressive on a range of materials such as aluminum, magnesium, zinc, glass, enamel and many plastic materials. Caustic soda is approved in the EU as food additive under E 524.

Our caustic soda fulfils the purity criteria for food additives in accordance with the Additive Registration Ordinance (additives authorized), regulation (EU) No. 231/2012, Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) and NSF standard 60 (products for the treatment of water for human use).

  • Sodium Hydroxide Solution (NaOH 50 %) Diaphragm Process
  • Caustic Soda Solution
  • CAS-No. 1310-73-2 (NaOH)
  • Molar mass: 39.997 g/mol

Chlorine

Chlorine has a characteristic penetrating and irritating odor. The gas is greenish yellow in colour and the liquid is clear amber. Chlorine is not explosive neither flammable, but will support the combustion under certain conditions, react with many organic compounds; some reaction could be extremely violent especially those with hydrocarbons, alcohol and ethers.

  • Liquid Chlorine 99.5 %
  • Molecular formulate Cl2
  • CAS-No. 7782-50-5 (Cl2)
  • Molecular weight: 70.906 g/mol

Sodium Hypochlorite

Sodium Hypochlorite is a greenish-yellow liquid. NaOCl is a highly reactive oxidizer. The presence of transition metal ions (copper and nickel) is known to catalyse the decomposition of liquid sodium hypochlorite, contributing to the loss of bleach strength and the formation of oxygen. Loss of sodium hypochlorite strength means more products will be needed when the bleach is used as a disinfectant.

Our Sodium Hypochlorite fulfils the purity criteria for products for treatment of water for human use according to NSF Standard 60.

  • Sodium Hypochlorite 12 % NaClO
  • CAS-No. 7681-52-9 (NaClO)
  • Molar mass: 74.44 g/mol

Hydrochloric Acid

Hydrochloric acid 30 % (aqueous) is a clear, colorless to light yellow liquid. Our hydrochloric acid is used in a number of industries in various applications, e. g. for the pickling of metals, for the recovery of chlorine by electrolysis, for metallurgy and treatment of ores, for regeneration of ion exchangers. Also, it fulfils the purity criteria for products for treatment of water for human use according to NSF standard 60.

  • Hydrochloric acid 30–32 % HCl
  • CAS-No. 7647-01-0 (HCl)
  • Molar mass: 36.46 g/mol
